Film in the Classroom: Film and Citizenship
Citizenship is a dynamic, engaging and complex area of education. It provides opportunities for delivering some of the most crucial lessons students can learn, yet it can be a challenging subject for teachers and learners alike. A programme of study with so many areas of importance and interest to address, and so many abstract notions to make concrete, can be greatly enhanced through the use of film. The combination of moving image and sound in a feature film is a familiar format for most students and one that can help to contextualise issues that may be difficult to study in isolation.
